Last updated: July 2026

Sikh Society of Florida (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through sikhsocietyofflorida.org (the “Site”), how we use and safeguard it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide to us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message.
  • Punjabi School registration: the student’s name and age, the parent/guardian’s name, email, phone number, chosen class level, and family size.
  • Seva & volunteering sign-up: your name, email, phone number, preferred area of service, and any notes you provide.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log limited technical information such as your browser type, device, approximate region, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the Site secure and functioning and is not used to personally identify you.

Cookies

The Site aims to use minimal cookies. Essential cookies may be used for basic functionality. Embedded third-party content (such as Google Maps) may set its own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide only to:

  • Respond to your questions and messages;
  • Process and follow up on Punjabi School registrations;
  • Coordinate Seva and volunteering opportunities;
  • Keep you informed about the program or request you asked about;
  • Maintain the security and proper operation of the Site.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising.

3. How We Share Information

We share your information only in limited circumstances and only as necessary:

  • Service providers: trusted third parties who help us operate the Site and its forms (for example, our website host and transactional email provider), bound to use the information only to provide those services.
  • Legal requirements: where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of the Sangat and the organization.

We never sell your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on a small number of third-party services, including:

  • Google Maps — to display our location and provide directions.
  • Transactional email provider — to deliver form submissions to our team.
  • Payment processor — if you choose to donate online, your payment is handled by a secure third-party processor; we do not store your card details.
  • Social media — links to our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp are provided for convenience. Those platforms have their own privacy policies.

5. Donations

When you donate through Zelle or an online processor, that transaction is handled by your bank or the payment provider under their terms and privacy practices. We receive only the information necessary to acknowledge and record your gift.

6. Data Retention

We retain the information you submit only as long as needed to fulfill the purpose for which it was provided (for example, to respond to your message or to administer a Punjabi School term), and as required for our records or by law. You may ask us to delete your information at any time.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Punjabi School registrations concern children but are submitted by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided us information without consent, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Your Choices & Rights

You may:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct or delete your information;
  • Opt out of any non-essential communications.

To exercise any of these choices, please contact us using the details below.
